What We Do

We are a group of local community volunteers who are interested in preserving the coastline. We number about 40, of whom about half have attended working bees. We work in close co-operation with the City of Victor Harbor Council who provide us with strong support to achieve our aims.
What is our aim?

Our ambition is to promote, protect and restore the coastal environment of the Victor Harbor area. Our main area of work is from The Bluff to Hayborough.
We attend:

Regular monthly meetings (3rd Wednesday at 7 pm in the Old School House)

Working bees (2nd Wednesday 9-11 am and 4th Sunday 10-12 noon at a location advised via minutes)

Occasional social gatherings
We are actively involved in:

Eradicating weeds

Planting and watering native dune plants

Protecting sensitive dune areas

Pruning vegetation on walking tracks

Monitoring boardwalks, trails and fencing

Helping in Clean-up Australia Day

Educating the public with plant identification and information plaques

Monitoring of beach sand levels for Coastal Protection Branch

Monitoring of beach erosion issues

Monitoring hooded plover vulnerability

Discussing coast care matters with Council
